Osaka, Japan

This lively city was so fun to explore. Everything from the dynamic food and drinking culture, and famously outgoing people, I truly had a ball.

I only spent about 2 days here but overall it was the best time. I got to eat some great food, ride bikes around the city & shop at some cool little shops. I stayed in an Airbnb that was located in the city center which was perfect for walking around.

I highly recommend adding this to your itinerary if you find yourself in Japan. You won’t regret it!

How to get there:

From Kyoto: With my Japan Rail pass, I took Shinkansen. When you have the rail pass, you can board the Hikari and Kodama trains on the Tokaido Shinkansen Line for free. You will arrive to Shin-Osaka Station after a 15-20 minute ride.

My favorite spots:

  • Shitennoji: Buddhist temple. One of the oldest temples in Japan! A must see.

  • Kuromon Market: Large market where you can walk around and get amazing street food and fun souvenirs.

  • Shinsekai: Located in downtown “Minami” area. A fun old neighborhood you should visit. Lively place at night with lots of street food and cool scenery.

  • Osaka Castle: One of the most famous landmarks in Japan and definitely worth the visit!

  • Dōtonbori: Definitely a tourist spot but honestly? I think everyone should go, especially if you’re into the night life & want to explore more. You will not be bored. Reminded me of NYC but in Osaka.
