Rosarito, Mexico
My Getaway to Rosarito: Great Views, Strong Drinks & Even Better Tacos
A quick road trip to Rosarito, Mexico was exactly what I needed. Just a few hours' drive from LA, it’s the perfect spot to unwind, enjoy the ocean views, and, of course, eat some good food. I spent two nights in Playa de Rosarito, checking out some well-known spots, and while not everything was a hit, it was definitely a trip worth taking.
The Drive: From LA to Rosarito
The drive down was smooth once I got past LA traffic. After crossing the border into Tijuana, the scenic coastal road made the rest of the trip fly by. The ocean views along the way were unreal, setting the tone for a laid-back getaway.
Two Nights in Playa de Rosarito
Rosarito has that perfect mix of relaxed beach town and lively energy. The long stretches of sand, ocean breeze, and slower pace made it easy to settle in. Whether you’re looking to just hang out by the beach or explore the nightlife, there’s always something going on.
Los Portales de Garcia: Views That Make It Worth the Trip
One of the main reasons I came to Rosarito was to check out Los Portales de Garcia. It’s known for its incredible hilltop views, and it did not disappoint. Sitting there with a drink, watching the ocean stretch out for miles, was easily one of the highlights of the trip.
Now, the food? Just okay. Not bad, but not something I’d go back for. However, the drinks were solid, and the overall experience makes this place worth visiting. If you’re looking for a spot to relax, take in the views, and have a good time, this is it.
Tacos El Yaqui Perrones: The Real Star of the Trip
While the views at Los Portales were amazing, the real winner of the trip was Tacos El Yaqui Perrones. This place is famous for its Perrón taco, and after trying it, I get why.
A fresh, flour tortilla packed with perfectly grilled carne asada, melted cheese, and just the right toppings—it was easily one of the best tacos I’ve ever had. The place is casual, always busy, and totally worth the wait. If you’re in Rosarito, this spot should be at the top of your list.
Final Thoughts
Spending two nights in Rosarito was exactly what I needed—a mix of relaxing beach time, great views, and unforgettable tacos. While the food at Los Portales de Garcia wasn’t the best, the views and drinks made up for it. And Tacos El Yaqui Perrones? That alone is reason enough to come back.
Already thinking about the next trip.
