Skin cAIR
Okay, if you know me, you KNOW I am a skin care fanatic. I have a routine every morning/night which eventually lead to me formulating a routine for every time I fly. When I first started traveling I didn’t understand the importance of keeping your skin hydrated. I noticed, though, every time I landed I always had extremely dull, dry and unflattering skin. I was not a fan. It wasn’t until I started watching youtube channels and IG stories of people who travel frequently that I realized how important it is to maintain your skin, even when flying. I am going to list some of the things I do while on a plane to keep my dry skin moisturized, happy, and thriving. Please note, this is what works for ME. I am sharing in hopes it can also work for some of you but we all have different skin types and this is to be taken with a grain of salt. I am not a dermatologist or esthetician. Just a regular gal that enjoys skin care and sharing her knowledge of it.
Rule number 1: If possible, try to avoid wearing heavy make up when flying.
Rule number 2: Bring a carry on that has travel size skin care products with you. This will make it easy to grab when you need it.
Rule number 3: Bring make up/face wipes. Not the alcohol kind, though. Remember, when flying your skin loses so much moisture due to the lack of humidity in the aircraft. It’s important to use wipes that are sensitive and hydrating. My favorite are Josie Maran and Simple.
Rule number 4: Keep a face mist handy. It comes in clutch when you need a quick freshen up. I love Evian, Caudalie, Mario Badescu, and Thayers.
Rule number 5: Wash your hands. Your hands are constantly touching things, especially dirty things that are on a plane so having clean hands to work with is the golden rule.
Rule number 6: Don’t forget to apply SPF. Yes, you still it while flying.
My top skin care products I use when flying:
Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask..This mask is the holy grail. After I gently wipe my face, I apply this immediately. If I am on a long haul flight, i’ll typically apply it twice. Once shortly after take off and right before landing. So hydrating. So amazing. Doesn’t need to be rinsed, either. I like to apply a heavy amount under my eyes and cheeks as that’s where I get the most dry.
Dr. Jart+. This brand offers a a variety of sheet/rubber masks to choose from but I personally love the Hydration Lover mask. It’s safe to say that your skin will be left feeling like butter after this. Note: people WILL stare at you while masking but honestly, who cares? Your skin is more important than peoples thoughts or opinions..am I right? This mask doesn’t need to be rinsed. I like to peel off and pat in the excess serums. Feels amazing. If you do feel you need more moisture after this, apply the Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask or any moisturizer of your choosing.
INC.REDIBLE. My favorite eye masks. This is made with Hemp Hydrogel and I always feel so moisturized after I take them off. Like I stated before, my eyes are an area that get the most dry so it’s essential I have this on at least once during short flights, twice during long hauls.
Laneige. Okay, we all know having soft lips are one the most important things in a skin care routine, right? Please tell me you know this. If not, you are going to learn today baby! If you haven’t tried this amazing product, I highly suggest you do. It’s $20 but lasts you months because a little goes a long way. It’s intended to be a sleeping lip mask but I use it throughout the day as well. Definitely a must have.
These are just a few products I love and adore. Hopefully it helps you, too!
